The MITSUI-BUSSAN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR INDONESIA (hereinafter referred to as “the Program”) was established in Tokyo, Japan, in 1992 as a non-profit foundation under the approval of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (formerly called the. Ministry of Education) Japan based on a fund prepared by Mitsui & Co., Ltd. The Program aims to encourage Indonesian students who wish to study at universities in Japan and obtain a bachelor’s degree thereby.
The objective of the Program is to support and assist the students so that:
Firstly, the students can learn about and become intimate with Japanese culture and customs.
Secondly, the students can develop an international sensibility through daily life in Japan. Consequently, the students can make their best efforts in their respective fields so as to contribute to the development of Indonesia after finishing their studies in Japan, calling upon their experience of living and studying in Japan.
Therefore, the grantees who have completed their studies in Japan under the Program will be requested to make their utmost effort to materialize the Program’s objectives; however, the grantees will be entirely free from any other obligations and duties.
THE PROGRAM SUPPORTS FOR 5 AND A HALF YEARS IN JAPAN:
The studies for entrance examination to a University for 1 and a half years & the university study for 4years.
* Supporting the fees for living/school/educational materials and the monthly principle guiding to grantees by the staff
* Prior to study in Japan, basic studies of Japanese language, culture, history and living for two months in Indonesia
Application period:
March ~ April, 2010
Qualification:
The applicants who have graduated or are expected from SMA, less than the age of 20 years old as of April 30th, 2010 and are recommended by the principal of the graduated SMA.
Selection Schedule:
In late May: The 1st-stage (Written test of English and mathematics)
In late June: The 2nd-stage (Interview and others)
In early July: Conclusion of the final grantees
Study Schedule:
2010/7-9: The basic studies in Indonesia
2010/10 – 2012/3: The studies for entrance examination to
a university at a Japanese Language School
2012/4 – 2016/3: Study at University
Universities entered of the previous Mitsui grantees The University of Tokyo, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Keio University, Waseda University and others.
* Scholarships under this program are available to Indonesian high school students. It was established in 1992 to foster exchange and friendship between Indonesia and Japan and to contribute to the development of Indonesia through human resource development. The entrustor is Mitsui & Co., Ltd., and the trustee is The Chuo Mitsui Trust & Banking Co., Ltd.
* This scholarship program is trustworthily cooperated with the Ministry of National Education of Indonesia (DIKNAS).
